First Month Of Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms

More often than not, it is difficult to spot pregnancy during the firth month and this is especially true for women who have  irregular periods. First month of pregnancy begins from the 1st week of conceiving and lasts up to the 4th week of pregnancy. In the first month of pregnancy,  the embryo undergoes various changes and you may start experiencing symptoms related to pregnancy. However, the first month of pregnancy symptoms are difficult to spot and usually by the time you realize that you are pregnant, you may be in your second month of pregnancy.

First Month Pregnancy Development – Baby In First Month

During the 1st month of pregnancy, the egg will implant into the upper portion of the uterus. The placenta, round flat organ that provides blood and nutrients to the baby from the mother, will also begin to develop. As the fertilized egg matures, a water-tight sac starts surrounding it and gradually fills with fluid. This is referred to as the amniotic sac and it functions as a cushion for the growing embryo. The embryo begins the process of becoming a separate part of the anatomy.  At this point, significant characteristics  such as sex, eye and hair color are determined. While the embryo doesn’t resemble a baby at this point, the cardio-vascular system, brain and backbone, along with a beating heart are beginning to form.

The primitive face has large dark circles for eyes. The mouth, lower jaw, and throat would still be forming  while the blood cells begin to take shape for the circulation to start. The first thin layer of skin is formed and buds that will develop into arms and legs become visible. At this point the embryo has three main brain sections: the fore-brain, the middle brain and the hind-brain.

If you are able to spot the 1st month pregnancy symptoms, you should start maintaining a healthy diet in case you aren’t already on it. Choose variety of food from the recommended food groups and drink ample amount of water a day to keep your body hydrated. The additional requirement of calories when you are pregnant is about 300 calories extra per day. Therefore all worries of unnecessary weight gain can be laid to rest and you can focus on eating nutritious diet.

First Month Of Pregnancy – Symptoms & Signs

Many women experience morning sickness as part of 1st month pregnancy symptoms. Morning sickness usually kills the appetite and usually most women tend to eat less in order to avoid nausea.  This can have adverse effect on your baby and therefore you should avoid reducing your diet and understand that morning sickness is completely natural and eating right will only ensure that your baby is healthy.
