Parenthood is a difficult, but happy phase in every parent’s life. But few parents are of the view that kids will learn things by themselves while they grow up, hence it is not necessary to give them any tasks. However experts are of the opinion that parents should give age appropriate tasks to their children to build up self-discipline.
Allotting age appropriate chores will not only make them self-disciplined but also teach them a sense responsibility. You can let your child help you in jobs like cleaning the house,washing your car or help you in the garden.
You can allot jobs to your kids in an early stage say when they are around 3 or 4 years old. You can get your child involved in jobs like tidying their room off toys after play or helping you empty small waste paper baskets or any other simple chore. This will help develop discipline as they grow up.
Your 4yr.old could help tidy up his room, and probably help feed the kitties and dogs. Your 6yr old could probably be told to unload the dishes and tidy up couches. Eight-year-old could be given tasks like helping you wipe down the bathroom sink each night. 10-year old could help vacuum each weekend and put dishes in the washer each morning and evening.
However gender should never be a point of distinction in allotting age-appropriate jobs. This attitude would help build self-discipline along with self-contained family relationships. So you as a parent should create self-discipline in your children to do all types of jobs.
