All pregnant women will want to have a healthy and well balanced diet to provide nutrition for herself and the baby. In addition the present day concern is ,whether to have organic or non-organic food during pregnancy.
Organic fruits and vegetables are grown without pesticides and fertilizers, and contain no artificial ingredients or preservatives. Organic meats and dairy products come from animals which have been given organic feed . Though organic diet is considered to be ideal during pregnancy, it can be a challenging task to be only on organic diet as the availability of organic food is limited.
The main significant difference between organic and non-organic foods lies in the fact that organic foods taste better and contain no pesticide residues. However, those on a strict budget can take non-organic food by washing them well, peeling off the outer skin and cooking them well to kill harmful pathogens. Also preferring to consume seasonal and locally grown fruits and vegetables helps reduce contamination due to pesticides. So it is just important that every pregnant woman has her fill of fruits and vegetables needed for her and her child’s good nutrition.
In addition consuming organic meats, poultry, and dairy products with no addition of antibiotics and growth hormones is good. Also make sure to consume meat and diary products that have been purified, free from infection and growth hormones. They could have negative impacts on you and your baby.
Consuming a non-organic diet during pregnancy is economical and safe. Educate yourself about the terminologies used by organic farmers. what is considered natural by few conventional or non-organic products may be toxic to you and your baby. Hence read the labels of canned and processed food to decide if you should consume them.
