How To Change Nappies
Changing nappies can be a difficult task in the beginning, particularly for new mothers. If nappy changing is not done properly then it can lead to nappy rashes in the baby. Hence the mother must know the technique of proper nappy changing. The time required to changing the nappy is not certain; it can vary from baby to baby. The nappy should be changed as soon as it is gets soiled or is wet, if it is not done then it can lead to redness and soreness. While changing the nappy, there are increased chances of contracting germs to your baby. Hence, extra care and precaution should be taken by the mother while changing the nappies.
Things required while changing nappies
While changing the nappy of your baby, you should keep everything that you will require handy. A comfortable spot should be selected to change the nappy. The things that a mother shall require while changing the nappy are :
A fresh diaper
Warm or cooled boiled water
A towel
Wipes
Cotton balls
Diaper disposal bag.
Diaper cream and
A diaper mat, to prevent creating mess all over.
Preparing For A Nappy Change
Before changing the baby’s nappy, the mother must clean and dry her hands. Keep all the things required for changing the nappy close by.
How To Change The Nappy
- Allow your baby to lie on the back and undo the used diaper. Then, lift the baby by her feet and lift her bottom off and remove the used diaper. Clean the remaining waste with the used diaper.
- Place a clean cloth covering the genitals of the baby so that the baby doesn’t pee over you while you are changing the diaper.
- A baby wipe or a wet cloth can be used to clean the genitals of the baby. Clean thoroughly so that chances of infection are reduced.
- Now a clean diaper is to be taken and half the nappy should go under the bottom of the baby and other half should come up between the legs.
- Fasten the nappy on both the sides. If required apply some ointment or cream to prevent nappy rash.
- Throw the soiled nappy in a plastic bag. Dress your baby.
- All the surfaces that must have been infected during changing of nappy should be cleaned with a cleaning solution and finally with an antiseptic Liquid. Keep the surfaces dry.
- After you have changed and disposed the nappy then you must wash your hands thoroughly with any antiseptic liquid. You need to ensure that your hands are clean and free from any infections.
If properly practiced, nappy changing will not prove to be a troublesome chore . Great care and precaution should be taken while and after changing the diaper.
